Raptor Road Trip

Hi everyone!
The girls and I had a great time out on Sauvie Island this Saturday at the annual Raptor Road Trip. It's a birdwatching event where you travel from station to station on the island and see hawks, eagles, owls, vultures, ducks, geese, swans...all kinds of birds. We went for the first time last year, and despite ankle deep mud and cold temps we couldn't wait to go again this year! Skye was especially looking forward to it as she loves to learn about animals and nature. Next time you talk to her ask her about Bald Eagles. We saw some really cool things like eagle nests and giant Tundra Swans. At one station we could hear an owl hooting, and it was so loud that we all thought it was a recording being played over a loudspeaker! This year's Road Trip was extra fun because it snowed while we were there! By the time we left the island there was about an inch and a half of accumulation, but sadly it was just wet and cold at home in LO. As usual I took lots of pictures and have some to share with you here. I hope you all had adventures this weekend too!

How totally awesome!! You should let us know ahead of time next year... Steve originally wanted to be a raptor man when he came to college!! His favorite is the Bald Eagle so I am sure he and Skye will have lots to talk about!
